Richmond has been described as the best preserved Georgian village in Australia and Hollyhock is one of the earliest cottages built in the village. Come and experience the relaxing beauty and history of Hollyhock Cottage for yourself!
Built around 1830 Hollyhock is a brick and timber cottage and is one of only a few to have survived to the present day. It is thought that because the south facing wall containing two chimneys is built of (convict) brick this reduced the risk of fire spreading from the two hearths. The original construction of the cottage is thought to be associated with the discovery of low grade coal in the Coal River Valley and anecdotal information suggests that it has been referred to as a 'Miners Cottage' for many decades.
Just 20 minutes from Hobart and the airport, Richmond is a great stepping out location for all the attractions of the Coal Valley and beyond. Whether it is wineries, Port Arthur, Freycinet or the Huon, they are all an easy drive from Richmond.
The cottage is fully self-contained; it offers complete privacy and is exclusively yours to enjoy.
