Richmond is on Tasmania’s Convict Trail. The village was once a key military post and convict station, strategically located between Hobart and the infamous Port Arthur penal settlement. Richmond’s convict buildings predate Port Arthur. Hollyhock Cottage in the heart of Richmond, is a wonderful place to stay and come back to after a busy day exploring. Built in the early 1800’s, this brick and timber cottage is one of the few remaining original buildings to have survived the onslaught of man and time.
In recent years, following listing by the National Trust, the 4 star cottage has been carefully restored using original materials so as not to lose that feeling of time gone by.

It is completely private and set in a lovely cottage garden. There is a bedroom with Queen bed, sitting room, kitchen and bathroom with double spa. The cottage is equipped with laundry facilities and has wood and electric heating. Provisions for a hearty country breakfast, using the best of Tasmanian produce are supplied.
